Installing Graphics and nervous
1 Attachment(s)
Ok, I received my graphics package from Mike (he is awesome) and have taken off everything but the gold stripe the runs up the bow. The question I have is how did they get the gold stipe to bend at the bottom of the graphic. Take a look at the picture and let me know if anyone has the answer. I'm thinking they heated up the tape with a blow dryer to bend it however, I'm not sure. Let me know what you think. CraigAttachment 1638

Re: Installing Graphics and nervous
The trick to working with vinyl is to take your time. It can be bent, don't use a hair dryer or heat source - this will damage the adhesive.

Re: Installing Graphics and nervous
I realized later that it will make a huge difference once I pull the backing off of the tape, as it then becomes more flexible. It is definately a little nerve wracking. If it comes out nice I'll post some pics. Thanks for the help:wink_thumbup:

Re: Installing Graphics and nervous
I know a local graphics guy that put my kit on for $75 yesterday. (Included the 15' stripe that runs from the 'Z' logo to the bow.) I personally didn't even want to attempt it myself, and I view myself as fairly capable. ;) For just the standard 'Z' it would've been $35ish.
Almost every car dealership in town has some sort of company that comes in and cleans up their trade ins, and does pin striping. Pretty rarely do they have their in house shop do it. (At least around here.) Same if you have any of the '$500 Paint Job' places around. If I were you I'd just call them up and see who does their work. They usually just free lance as a side job. Worth a shot for the piece of mind IMHO. :wink_thumbup: |

You're right - that is a great suggestion!

Re: Installing Graphics and nervous
Hello
You can go to your local auto body supply store and get a spray bottle of a solution that keeps your stripe flexible, once you get it right you use a plastic squeege to work the liquid out, and then the solution will help activate the adhesive. good luck. |
Re: Installing Graphics and nervous
I've never heard about the solution, I might try to find some tomorrow. However, I do live in the middle of nowhere Wyoming. I did get one side completed and it looks really good, I'm very pleased. It has taken some time to do though. Thanks again for the help guys. Craig
