Default purchasing 1995 272 barchetta

hey guys, I need some help. I just put a deposit (refundable) down on a slick 1995 mariah 272 barchetta, that is in truly mint condition. I know very little about the original Mariah's except that they seem to be like cadillac's of the bowrider boats. Please give me your thoughts on these boats both on quality and performance. Does anyone understand the difference between barchetta and shabah. All info would be nice, since I am making the final purchase in a few days.

You won't be disappointed, trust me. The 272 is a great boat. We have some of the old workers from the factory on our site that claim the 272 could be dropped off a 5 story building, then be put in the lake, and would still be the best built and best looking boat on the water. You know if that's coming from the factory workers, it MUST be the truth! It was also one of the longest running large boat series produced by Mariah.

The only difference between the Barchetta and the Shabah is the name. I believe they retired the Barchetta name in 96.

You are correct in assuming they're like the Cadillac of boats, especially if you get into a Z-Series model. Even the standard edition models still come with more than enough options, thus proving once again, why Mariahs were "equipped like no other boat in the world".

Performance-wise, it'll depend on the engine equipped. The 95 brochure shows the following specs:

    5.7L - 42-48mph
    7.4L - 50-55mph
    454Mag - 54-60mph

Hope this helps with your decision! Let us know how it turns out!

I have a 2000 Z 272 Shabah I love mine ,lots of room.Plenty of power 7.4L Bravo 3 Very smooth ride . If you have kids or kids that go boating with you you will like the way when kids sitting in the open bow are roomy and deep giving you a secure feeling that the kids are safe. The head is nice. I pull mine with a Yukon XL or GMC Serria 4 door 3/4 pickup . The trailer is a tri-axel which I love. Gary G
