Default captain chairs too high

Just purchased a 98 talari 211 se, and on my sea trail I noticed that I was sitting to high above the windshield. Thought it was just and adjustment , but there seems to be no way to lower the seat. Upon looking at the bimini top that was never used, only confirmed that it couldn't be with the seats this high.
Does anyone know if there is a seat hight adjustment that I am not seeing, or how they can be lowered.

Would appreciate any advice..

Thanks

Hmm, I have the same boat but the 'z' model. I don't recall seeing anything. Mine just has the power slide.

My guess is that the PO didn't like having to peer over the bow (and standing in the process) all the time and added that himself.

It always amazed me that Mariah wouldn't have include fold up bolsters in these models. Almost 22' cuddy and standard seating height? C'mon now.

You may simply have to buy another pedestal that lowers the seat somewhat. I noticed in the brochures we have that the driver's head was a little high too...

I believe Mariah used mostly Springfield pedestals that still are widely available at most boating supply shops.

    Hello Vince,

I haven't made a seat adjustment for over 9 years. I seem to recall a manual black knob under the seat that you would turn to loosen to raise and lower the seat. Mariah made the seats to adjust up and down, turn, and move back and forth.

I have the 95 Talari Z model with power seat that only moves it back and forth. I'm sure if you look under the seat there's a height adjust that would be separate from the bar that has a nylon slide track that moves the seat back and forth. As I recall, the black knob also allows the seat to turn when loosened. This is unless the previous owner changed the seat pedestal.

My passenger captain's seat has 2 separate manual adjustments as I previously mentioned. I just had my mechanic make a repair to the nylon bushing that fits inside of the pedestal keep the height adjusted. This year I plan to install a stainless steel hand grab bar under the glove box so the passenger does not have to lean forward to reach the one on the sides.

I used to have a Searay with fold down seats on a 20'. I was used to sitting on top of the seat to look over the windshield. When I purchased my Mariah back in 98 with the captains chairs, it took some getting use to sitting all the time because the chair was too close to stand and the back doesn't allow you to sit on top of it. I adjusted the driver's seat to sit and look over the windshield.

I hope this helps you. Good luck Vince!

Thank you all for your feedback.

The problem was that the pedestals were too high (18 1/2 in to bottom of seat).

Ordered two scratch and dent ones from Springfield Marine at half price. They adjust like and office chair from 12 1/2 to 15 1/2, fit perfectly, work fine, and had no obvious scratches of dents.

Might want to check out their website, scratch and dent store if you ever need to replace or add pedestals.

    Thanks again

    Vince

Mine are 18.5 inches to bottom of seat. If your would like to purchase them, let me know. Thinking of listing them on ebay for 150. They are in excellent condition.
they are height adustable to 5 inches higher, swivel, and move front to back.

Thanks, but I'm only 7 inches off the floor now and I only want to go up 2 to 3 inches at the most.
