Ran into some trouble
Well last time out last year....Hit a 50 footer or so sea ray's wake a little hard. Needless to say something is tweeked in the front half of my 210 shabbah. My windshield on the left side came out a slight bit. I took a day to straighten that out. Now where the windshield lifts up to walk out to the front of the boat When I walk on that shell type setup it has in the front the windshield and everything else is moving now. Looking on both sides under the windshield everything looks right. Im thinking it has something to do with that shell type setup in the front. I tried to poke my head under where the ski compartment is on the floor and everything seems ok there. I'm kinda at a loss of where to go now. Does that shell lift out to expose more or ? I went over the hull top to bottom and it has no signs of stress cracks, but something has to be tweaked....All help is thankful:shakehead:

Re: Ran into some trouble
The floor on my 240 is seamed just under the dash. Found the seam when I removed the carpet for a floor repair. If that part of the floor has moved that could be one cause your alignment problem up top.

Re: Ran into some trouble
Seam runs left to right. I had already removed the forward compartment wall. The seam was right under it. I have a post under the projects for floor repair. Unfortunately my pics do not show that section of floor. My decking was loose, found that the staples that were used by the factory had rotted away. Sounds like you may have broken some when you hit the wake. I made the repair with coated deck screws. If it is broken staples you can do the repair in about a day start to finish.

Re: Ran into some trouble
Hi Mike,
Unlike Provo’s ‘94 or our ‘96, the ‘98 Mariahs use a fiberglass unitized inner hull and stringer system. The inner hull and stringers are mostly fiberglass, filled with foam and bonded to the lower hull. The top of the inner hull becomes the floor except at the Bow pit areas. The shell sits on top of the inner hull floor because the shell and upper hull are all one piece. Take a look at these photos (click here and open the PDF file), although the Mariahs in the pictures are older models, the upper hull hasn’t changed much. Look at the 29th frame, it’s a picture of the upper and lower hulls about to be joined and as you can see, the front bow pit area is part of the upper hull. Now I don’t like to be the harbinger of bad news, but it seems like your Shabah might have been torqued pretty bad and it’s possible that you may have compromised the integrity of the hull joint under the rub rails, where the upper and lower hulls are attached. If there is any kind of mechanical or adhesive bond or filler between the inner hull floor and the bow pit (shell) floor, that might have separated, which would explain why this area now moves when you walk on it. Looking inside the ski locker is below this area so look under the two bow side seat compartments, you may need to remove the felt liners to get a look where the upper and lower floors meet. Another place you may have a better look at the space between the floors is to remove the driver or passenger front wall under the dashes. I hope it’s something minor as Mariahs are built pretty tough, but they’re not indestructible. If you can’t locate the trouble, you might want to seek professional help to insure the hull is OK. Good luck and get back to us when you figure out what’s going on, WetWilly |
Re: Ran into some trouble
Thanks for info wetwilly, Well since this being a long weekend and me having the boat with its new crate motor sitting next to it. I'm thinking i'm gonna try to dig into it and see what I can find wrong. Now that front floor cover that I can feel rug under does that come out? I'm guessing seats, and all other trim around it need to come up to find a seam? It's killing me having the brand new motor, exhaust, and these 90 dergree days and my boat sitting cause I don't know what the heck is wrong with it. I'd like to see what it is first and talk to my local fiberglass guy before dealing with insurance since they seem to drag stuff out for ever. Worst Case I'll be looking for a boat that needs a powertrain, and I don't wana do that with such a nice looking riah'

Re: Ran into some trouble
is the carpet you are referring to located between the the two floor levels at the walk thru to the bow and if so I need to repalced and seal mine as well, it gets wet and is now sort of punky when you walk to the bow. i'll post pictures next week of the problem.

I have a 97 Shabah Z222. I had to completely redo the interior. Here is a picture that shows the floor with the carpet removed. You can also see the 1 piece bow floor as well. Hope it helps.

I found another picture that shows where the bottom and top piece meet. You can sort of see where they are screwed together. Good luck.
