is it a good idea and how would you do it also my engine hood does not go up nice how do i make it go evenly so it doeant wear out one side

What kind of chip are you referring to, an engine performance chip? I don't believe they make any marine versions. Even if they did, I think I'd personally take the money it costs and invest it in gas for the boat, you'll probably get more for your money there.

There's been quite a few discussions regarding the hood lifts. Some people have added gas assist shocks, or even removed the powered ram lifts in favor of dual gas shocks. My boat was equipped that way when I got it, the previous owner removed the powered lift. Search around the forum for the words "lift" and "shocks" and you'll find all sorts of info! :wink_thumbup:
