Default Gelcoat Repairs

Just returned from a week down in Mexico (Bahia Principe Tulum), and the +28C weather has me pining for the warm Canadian weather to return (June).

Like most of us we tinker every winter 'touching-up' our beloved MARIAH's. For me its looking to upgrade to a larger Z222. But one of my sticking points is the GELCOAT on this boat.

Question - how easy is it to re-gelcoat a boat? Can you sand down a green gelcoat and replace the color with a dark blue or even arctic white? What costs are involved.

If anyone has experience with this or knows of a link please post or PM that info along. The price is right, the color is wrong.

Thanks, Vern.

That's a ton of work, honestly. Restoring the gelcoat is one thing, but re-gelcoating would be a nightmare, and probably expensive as hell.

I think I'd keep looking for exactly what you want, versus buying a boat that's priced low and needs tons of work to be your dream boat. However, that's just my opinion. If you decide to go through with it, good luck, and keep us updated with how it goes!
