93 Shabah 212 upholstery!

I have a 1993 Mariah Shabah 212, and the previous owner had redone the upholstery on the engine hatch. I would like to have it redone back to the original design. However, I havn't been able to find another 93 Shabah 212 that still has the original design. If anyone has any photos of the original upholstery, please send them to me. Also, any information available would be appretiated. I will post some pics of my boat soon!:shakehead:

I have a 1995 Shabah 212. Has the 5.0 but I don't think a motor change's the upolstery. Mine is white and teal or in the language of Mariah "Bimini". Let me know if you need any specific ones, cause the boats home (how sad to say:().

Thanks for your reply and pics, but my 93 212 is not like any of the 94 and up designs. The original cousion is still under the new upholstery and if you run your hand over it, you can feel it had more of a stripe pattern. I would like to put it back to the original look! I am starting to realize that this year shabah 212 had a low production number. If anyone knows how many shabah 212s where produced in 1993, I would like to know!

Hi heineken24-7 and welcome to the club,

I'll take a stab at this one as well...

By chance, does the pattern under the new upholstery feel similar to this design (apologies for the poor and small pic)?

Thanks for the reply. No, the stripes are verticle and angle out to the sides. This weekend I will put some pin stripe tape over them and take some pics to give you a better idea of what they looked like!

The attached photo is from the 93 brochure...

And the photo WetWilly posted from above is from the 1991 brochure. I believe they only did 2 designs on the rear sundeck, and they're both pictured here.

I'd like to see what your original one looked like, so if you get the chance to put some pinstripe tape on it and take a photo, that'd be great! :)

heineken24-7 09-25-2008 07:20 PM

There had to have been a third design, because my seats are original and they are all white except for three small red stripes across the middle part of the two front seats, unlike the one pictured in the brochure!

heineken24-7 09-27-2008 06:02 PM

I downloaded the 93 brochure and my front seats are the same as the one pictured on page 6 except the backs are square. My bench seat is a one pice not sectioned into three seats. The colors of my boat are red, white, and grey similar to the one pictured on page 28 except my dash and glove box are grey. The first picture is of the new upholstery. The second is how the original design is in the cousion and it may have had another stripe as shown in the third pic. I really hope someone has seen this design before. It may have been a prototype!

Hi heineken24-7,

Well from everything I can find, or can't find, I'm beginning to think your sundeck has been re-upholstered at least two times in the past. I'm sorry, but I have not been able to find a single Mariah with anything even closely resembling the pattern you've outlined. The picture ShabahZ250 had was what yours was supposed to look like per the brochure.

I'm going to PM one of our members, MariahPD to take a look at what you have as he worked at Mariah since 1989 and he was the Customer Service / Warranty Manager for Mariah Boat's Inc. from 1992 - 1998. If anyone would know, he would be our man.

WetWilly

P.S. PM also sent to mmiller19, as he worked in upholstery from 91 to 95!

heineken24-7 09-28-2008 03:23 PM

It apears that my whole interior is original except the driver's botom seat cover and the hatch cover. I have had this boat for a year now and I know I will be doing some interior work in the near future. Also, if you can find any information about the production number I would appretiate it. I really like this boat and I wish I had found this web site earlier.

Hi heineken24-7,

That information should be part of your Hull ID number, so for a description on how to read your Hull ID number, read this post by ShabahZ250: Click here

Thanks, but what I want to find out is how many where produced in 1993!

ShabahZ280 09-30-2008 12:20 PM

Good luck, that data just doesn't exist anymore... I had even spoken with Mariah's creator, Jimmy Fulks before he passed away earlier this year, he told me he had no idea of the actual production numbers. So that may be a mystery!

Hey Folks!

Wet Willy asked me to stop in and answer this if I could and the pictures of your sundeck definitely show that it is an aftermarket re-upholster job. We never manufactured a sundeck that looked like that. From the pictures that you posted, it looked like your boat was a "Z" by the style of the rear headrest. I think your sundeck originally came with the "flame" style design on it but I need some more info. Do you have flat dashes or are they the curved "mark 8" dashes? I'd really like to see pics of your buckets as well to see if they might be stock. The patterns have long been destroyed but the way that Lorraine and I prototyped them was to literally draw them out by hand on the material and then cut them out. Transfer them to pattern paper and add 3/8" all the way around and sew them together. VIOLA!! Instant sundeck!! Hope this helps!! Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hey 95Z212,

Your vinyl looks like it's in pretty good condition. I have the same color. Do you or anyone else know of a current color name that would match the Mariah 1995 Bimini color?

Thanks,
VDave

Re: 93 Shabah 212 upholstery!

Hi Dave, I think the closest color in SunBrella is called Aquamarine but I would see if you could get some samples first.

Good luck and let us know what you find,
WetWilly

Re: 93 Shabah 212 upholstery!

Can't help with the pics but if any one is needing upholstry done and you are with in driving distance of Memphis, TN. Don's Upholstry is the place to get it done if you want it to look and feel origional. I had my 2000 222 Shaba re-upholstered ther in Nov. 09 after I loaned the boat to my son and he blew the engine cover off and lost it competely(I think alcohol was involved) but any way the guys at Don's took Pictures that I got from another member with a 222, information on the origional upholsty that I got off the site and did a great job, it looks and feels like the high quality origional seats that came in these boats. Don's has been in buisness over 40 years and they cost a little more but these guys has a first class shop. I will try to get some pictures of it on here soon.
