99 212Z questions

I recently purchased a '99 212Z and I was hoping for some help with a few questions.

First, I wanted to know if the Warlock tandem trailer was standard that year. The boat is Red and white, but has some gold trim, and the trailer is painted with the same red with gold striping. I suspect this was the original trailer as it was one owner. The bow and cockpit covers are also the gold (a bit faded now). It appears to be a strange color combo, that is why I'm asking. The owner said the boat listed out at $44,000 new, but that sounds high to me despite the numerous options (through the hull exhaust, 300HP, etc.).

The driver's bucket seat also has a loose pedestal, and appears to be lacking a part or two. I was wondering if anyone can steer me to where parts for the pedestals (or a new one) might be available.

The speedometer is jammed at 55MPH, but I will first try the solutions suggested elsewhere on this site before replacing. I did find a new Farina speedo for Mariah on e-bay for about $48.00.

I also need to replace the horn, but have not taken off the old one to determine the manufacturer.

The boat needs some work, but at $11,500 with 216 hours, this 300HP boat stills seems like a good buy. I'll post some photos next time.

Many thanks to all who replied to my previous posting looking for advise before buying the boat. It proved most helpful.

Thanks,

No longer "Mariah wanna be"

Congrats on your purchase. I'll try and answer your questions for you.

The standard trailer for Mariahs used to be Chariot, which was owned and manufactured by Mariah specifically for their boats, but that factory closed in 1998. After that, Mariah contracted with Prestige Trailers for all their trailer orders. So your "Warlock" trailer is not a factory original trailer.

The bow and cockpit covers, you say the color is unusual, are they made of vinyl, or fabric?

For the speedo, you can have your existing one repaired or replaced under Faria's lifetime warranty. I believe the full cost is around $40. We have the documents on the site if you need them.

The horns Mariah used were made by ITC or AFI. If it's a flat panel "hidden" horn, it's made by AFI, and you can get them from West Marine for around $50.

Hope this helps!!

PS-if you'd like, I can change your username since you're no longer a "wanna be!" just let me know what you'd like to change it to!
