Default New member, looking at a boat

New member here. I'm searching for a boat, and I've found a 1993 Mariah MX listed for sale. I know absolutely nothing about boats, hence my search for information about Mariah as a manufacturer and landing here. I know that one thing I would like to use a boat for is fishing. I don't believe there is a live well on this boat. Does anyone use this model for fishing, and how accommodating do you find it for that purpose?

From the seller's pictures, the boat appears to be in fantastic shape, including all of the carpeting and upholstery. 4.3L V6. What should I be concerned with on a boat this old? Specific problem areas for this model? What should a mechanic's evaluation and report reasonably cost me?

Hi, welcome to the site. Smart move asking questions before buying. Mariah's are not fishing boats, so no live wells, rod storage, etc. Simply pleasure crafts, but really well made ones. You can look through the forums on here and pull a ton of great info, and see some models in the gallery. The 4.3 is a solid engine, the hulls are super strong, so no real mechanical or structural issues to worry about if the boat is in great shape. I'm just not sure how well you will like it as a fishing boat if that is the main purpose.

This site is basically dead with very few people stopping by. Most have switched to the Mariah Owners Club facebook site, or one of the other 2 Mariah sites. You could go pose yor question there and get more responses.

Good luck with your purchase, whether it is the Mariah or not, and happy boating!
