I second what Indy says, a lot of boats have to have part or all of their outdrive replaced at some point in time. Nothing to worry about as long as the work was done properly.

I was pretty sure option A) I listed before was probably the case. The Alpha 1 can be mated to 4.3L, 5.0L and 5.7L engines. The internals on the drive are all the same...

Hello everyone, just something to add for my first post here :)

All of the lower Alpha units were a 2:1 gear ratio no mater what engine was in front of them. The top unit gear ratio was different depending on what engine size was installed.
