2350z alarm sounds constantly at wot

Hey all. I have a 1993 2350z with Mercruiser 496 Mag and Bravo 1 outdrive. We took her out for the first time today. While driving we get two quick beeps every couple of minutes or so. But the worst part is at wot we get a constant alarm that will sound until I slow down. Temp gauge shows around 175 degrees and oil pressure looks good around 50 to 60 psi. Any ideas what else could be causing this?

Check your drive oil level in the reservoir. There is a float switch in the reservoir that will cause the alarm in addition to temp and pressure.

Thanks for the info. I thought about that this morning. When I pulled the upper level plug, it and some excess oil actually shot out like it was under pressure. Maybe it was cause by being over full. Im taking her back out today, so hopefully that was it.

Do you have a drive oil reservoir inside your engine compartment???

I don't think it has a separate reservoir for the drive oil. I haven't stood on my head and looked for it, but I didn't see one.
That being said, I think it may be engine over speed that is sounding the alarm. I found the operators manual for the engine. It says recommended WOT RPMs 4400-4800. I remember seeing I was over 5000 when the alarm sounded. The operators manual listed over speed as a trigger for the alarm along with temp and oil pressure. I'll confirm that when I take it out next. I'll watch my RPMs and see if it alarms at the same time for a few tries.
Prop is a Mirage 14 3/4" 21 pitch. It's within the recommended diameter/pitch for this engine/outdrive.
