1997 Shabah Z222 - Twitching fuel gauge

Hi everyone. I recently bought a 1997 Mariah Shabah Z222. The fuel gauge sometimes bounces around quite a bit, making it nearly impossible to tell the correct fuel level. I have seen many posts about this issue related to the fuel sender. I flipped the back seat completely forward to look for a little hatch to access the sender, but I could see nothing. Does anyone else have a similar boat to show me a picture of where this mystery hatch might be. Any help would be great, as the boat is currently at the shop and the mechanic is telling me we either need to tear up the whole floor, or live with it as is. Thanks s

You've got a mechanic that's trying to scare the sh!t out of you and is too dammed lazy to figure it out. Just follow the fuel filler line down and it will lead you right to the point where the hatch is located. Twitching fuel gauge needles seem to be a regular issue with Mariahs. There is a thread here somewhere (from a few years back) where one of our electronically knowledgeable members explained how to fix the issue once and for all with a couple of resistors. I've attached a copy of his instructions that i downloaded way back when.

What do these little hatches look like? Are they just a cutout in the carpet? Or are they an actual plastic hatch of some kind. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

Mine is just a small cut-out in the carpet right where the floor meets the bilge area.

Mine is under the center of the rear seat on a 202. The cover is cut out but the carpet was not. Apparently it had never been accessed since 1999. You should be able to feel the cover edge under the carpet. But I was not able to remove the cover and had to just unscrew and tilt up the whole center of the seat.
