Finely got on the water!

Got out on the water for the first time this season and tried a new 23” prop. I gained about 3mph top end. I had to go by speedo because the new Lawrance GPS/fish finder antenna is not responding. Also the radio antenna is not popping up. I also got to try out the new Bennett trim tabs. They really help keep the bow down coming up on plane with the higher pitch prop. I had the person on board that caused the boat to list to the side he is on,(he didn’t know he was a test subject);), I was able to correct with the tabs. It will take some time to get used to the controls because they seem backwards but I think the tabs will be a very good investment.
I also have a question for the electrical know-how’s out there. I don’t use the VHF radio so could I use the long VHF whip antenna as a powerful radio station antenna by splicing into or adapting the plug?

Glad to hear you got it out! I plan to try and take mine out for the first time this weekend.

The power antenna can be replaced by any automotive power antenna. As far as splicing and adapting your VHF antenna to FM, it is possible, and they do make adapters for that conversion. Visit your local truck stop (Pilot, TA, etc), and check out the CB section!

Let me know how the tabs work out for yours, I'd really like to add them to mine. I've heard the backwards thing confuses a bunch of people, but once you figure it out, they're awesome.
