Chris,
You are right on the money. Bad Axe is only about an hour from my house so it was nice and close... You know your boats that's for sure! I didn't even notice that light was missing but it is. I do not like the fabric inside either. Do you know of any others out there that are a real deal? Also what year did the quality go down hill? Thanks! |
In all fairness of supporting our Sea Fox Mariah owners, I will say, the quality never "went downhill"...
However the original Mariah Boats Inc. closed in May of 2001. The remaining molds were sold between two companies. Sea Fox Marine, who got the 18-25ft molds, and Challenger Offshore, who got the 25-30ft molds. Both companies are still producing new boats with the original Mariah molds to this day. Check out our Gallery. We try to keep it updated with all year & models. That'll give you some ideas on what to specifically look for in your search. Also, we have original Mariah brochures available online if you click the "Donate" button. As far as finding the boats, I suggest starting to look through a couple sites. These all have a searchable database. Just enter in Mariah and the length you're interested in. If you're looking for the later models, look in the 1999-2002 range. http://www.boats.com http://www.iboats.com http://www.boattrader.com http://www.yachtworld.com Also periodically check ebay. Sometimes there's some deals on there. Check your local craigslist website as well. One word of advice, take your time. It took me over a year to find mine, and I drove to Baltimore to pick it up. This will give you time to make sure it's everything you want! If you can live without some options, that's fine, but remember, if it comes with it, you'll eventually find yourself using it! The Z-Series are the most equipped models, however some options were special order. Mine is a Z, but was ordered without thru-hull exhaust, trim tabs, or the shorepower option. All these things can be added on, but it's much better (and cheaper) to get them already installed!! |
