1994 Mariah Talari 240z dash swap

I thinking about changing my original dash to the Mark VIII dash if I can find one. I'm thinking and hoping it would be pretty simple, just swapping out gauges and switches. Anyone have any other ideas about this swap or would it be worth the hassle? Thanks for any input, it would be greatly appreciated,,,,,

Take it from me, as someone who paid dearly to repair their dash gauge cluster.... It's probably best to just stick with your existing dash.

They're made from vacuum formed ABS plastic, and become quite brittle after many years of sun exposure. The adhesive they used to adhere the plastic to the fiberglass cutout is just about as close to solid concrete as you can get, and you WILL be guaranteed to damage it during removal. Also keep in mind these dashes are next to impossible to replace as they're no longer available from any manufacturers.

You can read about my intense and expense fiasco I dealt with on my Z250's dash here:

My vote is to just leave it alone! Save yourself the headaches and frustrations. If you want the Mark VIII dash, look for it in your next boat! :wink_thumbup:

Thanks Chris for your input. That is all I need to know about tackling this project. It is officially scrapped!!! Read your complete write-up about your issue and I agree it's not worth a trip to the ER by stroking out over. Glad you responded. Thanks again, Bob
