rev counter not working
Hi everyone Northern Ireland here and its not raining so getting great time out on the water of Lough Neagh , I am having a problem though with my Rev Counter
ITS NOT WORKING does anyone have any ideas .i have checked with a circut tester and the light goes on but i have no movement . Its a 2001 Mariah sx18 4.3 mercurser with a Mariah marked rev counter any help would be appreciated |

Welcome aboard. If you do a search on this forum you'll find several posts dealing with faulty rev counters. For future reference, we here in the states call them tachometers or tach for short. Anyway, if you can get access to the back of the rev counter you will find a small dial or set screw. It should be currently set to the 6cyl position for your engine. The contacts for this dial commonly get corroded, so turn the dial or set screw back and forth several times to clean off the contacts and return it back to the 6cyl setting. why do you call it a techometer does it count Tecks per min only joking so dont take it to heart we have always called them Rev counters here so point taken thanks for Advice |
