Re: Stereo upgrade
Baholtz, I have a 12 sub 6 speakers and a 2,000 amp. Loudest damn boat on the water. You have plenty of room for a small sealed enclosure in the back engine area.

Re: Stereo upgrade
Ok. I've started the installation. Definitely not plug and play with my unit. I've been slicing wires. The aluminum trim plate can't be used without cutting it. Looking for suggestions on how to trim out the opening and make it nice.

I'll try and get some photos but I can assure you that they won't be that exciting. I don't have anything as cool as a tower. Matter of fact, I don't even have an interior in the boat right now. Most of it is in my garage. And I've had to take a three week break from working on my 202. 1998 202 Shabah 5.0L Alpha 1 |
Re: Stereo upgrade
Got the photos in my Drop box, but I can get them to appear, I just get a black box with an x in it.
I'm dealing with a square opening in the fiberglass. I need to either cut out the original aluminum back plate to fit the hole or come up with some time of trim to cover the screw holes from the old back plate. |

Paul - Just out of curiosity.... Are you using a DIN radio install kit? 1998 202 Shabah 5.0L Alpha 1 |
Re: Stereo upgrade
I guess not. All I've got to work with is a hole in the fiberglass.
I googled DIN installation kit and it looks like they are specific to the model of the auto? Guess I need some expert advice on what kit I need for a Kenwood stereo for boat applications. |
Re: Stereo upgrade
Usually, the radio comes with a DIN frame that gets inserted into the dash cutout first. It gets secured into the dash cutout and then you insert the radio into the frame and secure it to the frame.

Re: Stereo upgrade
I talked to a friend who is a metal fabricator and he's going to water jet the hole in the original aluminum plate to fit the new unit! Should work out great! :wink_thumbup:
