New owner help Identify boat
Hello,
I just purchased a 1993 Mariah. Title states it's a Shabah 198 and the HIN# matches the title. Only issue is while looking at other Mariah owners pictures I am questioning the model # of my boat. I have more pics in my post in the introduction section of the forum. I saw a Talari 200 that looks exactly like mine. curious to hear your thoughts. Thank you http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f1...h/IMG_0339.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f1...h/IMG_0348.jpg |
Re: New owner help Identify boat
Shoot me a PM with your HIN# and I'll look it up on the factory build sheets.

Re: New owner help Identify boat
Thank you very much, I will get that info as soon as i get home.
I will also be tearing off the outdrive to inspect bellows, gimbal bearing, u-joints and shift cable. anything else I should inspect while it's apart? |
Re: New owner help Identify boat
High gunnel that run the windshield lines makes it a Shabah. Talari has lower sides. Looks like a Shabah.

Thanks Paul, I would not think the title would be incorrect but Mariah has very similar lines and interiors in their boats.

Re: New owner help Identify boat
The only difference is the deck mold. The bottom hulls and interiors are exactly the the same.

Re: New owner help Identify boat
That's great. Now on to my next task. Tore outdrive off and found oil/grease and water in driveshaft bellow. U-joints have surface rust but still feel smooth with no binding. I examined bellow very closely and couldn't find any holes or tears. A little dry rot but that's it.
Filled transom with hose and no leaks, felt under y-pipe and it was smooth and rust free. No idea how water made its way into driveshaft bellow. Ordering new bellow and bearing tonight and willl do more testing when it's all back together. Any thoughts would be appreciated. |

Unless they are in perfect shape, now is the time to replace the trim switch and sensor.
