Interior Panel Lose (Throttle Mounting Panel)
Hey all-
Have an issue where the panel the throttle mounts to is lose, appears wherever the screws screw into are stripped. This is the panel: http://content.screencast.com/users/...2016-11.33.png (NOT MY BOAT) Anyone tackled reinforcing this panel before? |
Re: Interior Panel Lose (Throttle Mounting Panel)
You can try over drilling and installing plastic hollow wall anchors. It's worked for me in the past. The other option is to use larger diameter screws.

Re: Interior Panel Lose (Throttle Mounting Panel)
thanks Steve, I'll take a look adn see if I can get some anchors behind the screws. Do the screw covers just pop off?

Re: Interior Panel Lose (Throttle Mounting Panel)
Yes, carefully pry off using a flat blade screwdriver.

Another solution is a well nut. I've replaced a few screws on mine with them. I use to use them for permently mounting a nut where you could never get a loose nut onto a bolt, like dash panels and the skins on our buggies. You can do the rubber surround or, the ones I use, a collapsing metal type. If interested, just reply and I'll get more info on the metal ones

Remembered what the metal ones are called and it's good info for others with similar repairs.
Nutcert or Rivcerts or Rivnuts The tool ($37) collapses a section of the nut and locks the nut permently on the media. It's like a 17/32 hole. |
