Snap on Covers for Open Bow FWD and AFT ??

Can anyone help me find the snap on covers for open bow and seatling areas for my 1993 Talari 1950? Is there anywhere to find on line or used? I can have a set made but they want like 700 bucks or more to make new. Also what is the correct term instead of cover?? THANK YOU for any help?

Bow and Cockpit covers are what they're called, and unfortunately you'll be better off having them custom made. Yes, it's more expensive, but it'll be a custom perfect fit, and you won't get that with ANY of the ones you'll buy online. Plus the chances of finding used covers for a 22 year old boat are slim to none...

I just had a set of bow and cockpit covers made locally for my 190 Shabah. They are custom and fit like a glove. The shop used Sunbrella acrylic fabric and Goretex thread and color-matched burgundy snaps. The cost was $335 for the bow cover and $625 for the cockpit cover to come to the top of the windshield. It would have been an additional $120 to have the cockpit cover go over the windshield, but I chose not to do that for a little easier fit.

Best investment I've put into the boat yet!!! Just pull the trigger and get the covers made, I love mine.

Agree with Musicman. Its a good chunk of change, but well worth the investment.

Has anyone tried reusing the original Mariah snaps for a new bow and cockpit cover? I just bough my Z202 and would really like to keep the Mariah name on the snaps since as far as I know no one makes custom snaps with Mariah stamped on them.

Thanks

John

It would be very cool, however those snaps were riveted together at the factory with a press in the canvas shop, so reusing them would be a challenge! I've yet to find someone who can custom make these. I'm replacing my OEM canvas in a few weeks, and this would be an awesome touch!

ShabazZ280, assuming you are having them made locally, what material did you choose and if I could ask about what price range will this cost? I saw about $1200 for bow and cockpit.

ShabazZ280,

Found a supplier on line that will make custom snaps, but they want it to be at least 500 in quantity or you pay an additional $85 for a small run. Overall cost is about $0.80 per snap, but I really do not need 500 lol.

I will keep looking around and tell you if I find anything before you get yours done.

Those are actually fashion buttons for clothing (think denim jeans, etc)... Unfortunately they wouldn't work for our application. Someday when I've got some free time again, I hope to try and source out a place that can make these!

I'm having the full camper canvas redone for my Z280, so it's a bit different than your bow and cockpit cover. It's going to be done in dark green sunbrella fabric. So my price is going to be a bit different than yours! However, I did have a cockpit cover made for my old Z250, and that was around $900 from a local canvas guy quite a few years ago. So, $1200 for both sounds like the going rate for a cockpit cover and bow cover for a boat your size. It's a pretty good amount of material needed for those. Keep in mind though, the prices may vary depending on your locality, some places with a higher number of upholstery and custom marine fabric shops may have more competitive pricing and can offer you a deal. If you've only got one or two shops, pricing may not be so friendly or negotiable. The nice thing about it will be it's a total custom fit that's guaranteed to work and provide many many years of protection, and not be a "universal" fit that'll only last a year like the one you can find through online retailers. Trust me, custom covers are a worthwhile investment.
