Default Seat and Sun Platform Covers

Does anybody know where to get replacement seat covers or sun platform covers for Mariah boats? I have a 1998 202Z Shabah and am looking to replace them. Thanks, Chris

That is going to be an item you either do yourself or have an upholster do. Mariah has been out of business since 2001 or 2002. There is no stock pile of upholstery items laying around to my knowledge. When you have it done it would be wise to use a marine grade vinyl- its more UV stable and is suppose to last longer. I just had my rear bench seat and sun pad done. Made the whole boat look years newer! While it was expensive it was worth it. This time of year might even bring a heavier price tag seeing boating season getting fired up and folks start taking their projects to the shop. Hope that helps.

Moto, Thx for your note. I'll have to find a canvas shop in Annapolis to do it for me. Unfortunately, the platform is now playing vinyl, nothing like it was originally. Any idea where I can get the patterns for the original cover? Thanks. Chris

In the "Gallery" you will find a ton of photos of Mariah boats. They are organized in year/model. You should be able to find your model and probably even your exact boat in the Gallery. That can give you a pretty good idea of what they looked like. If you like the original design and want to recreate it I am thinking your main option is going to be getting some detailed photos and showing the upholster and hoping they can do a good job.

If you are not finding the photos you want I suppose you could always ask a MOC member with the same or similar model for some upholstery photos. As far as I can tell all the models look really similar when it comes to design. The thing that sets one model apart from the next would be the year of the model. That is just my observation. Im sure someone else may know and chime in.
Try doing a search to see what you find in terms of photos of upholstery jobs.

Thanks Moto. I grabbeed a few shots of other 202 Shabas and sent them to 2 upholstery shops. Fingers crossed that it doesn't cost me an arm and leg! Any way to save and buy vinyl from a good manufacturer? Know any? I've seen mention of Gary's on this site, but don't know of it. Thanks and have a great weekend. It's almost boating season here in Annapolis. Where are you? Chris

I'm located in Colorado. We had the boat out twice since March but the die hards wakeboard as long as there is no ice from the launch ramp to the main body. Its insane really...
As for the vinyl, I had samples from Gary's and almost purchased. The guy that did my work said he wouldn't warranty vinyl that he could not personally get which the Colorgard 2000( if I recall correct) was not one. I used a product from his supplier. It had the same basic specs as the colorgard 2000 aside from higher UV rating, lower crack temp and higher abrasion resistance. Figured if it failed I could have it fixed under warranty. Hopefully it doesn't come to that but one never knows. I would have went with the colorgard aside from that warranty seeing as people have good things to say. His price per yard was 16 a yd I believe where as me ordering the colorgard was like 25.
There are quite a few great products I read about on offshoreonly.com, iboats, an some other power sport forums. The big things I personally looked for was the oz being 29-30 or higher, UV resistance, abrasion resistance an a stain resistant coating. There are a number out there. Time will tell if mine holds up like the original.

Gary's upholstery was great!!! That guy is AWESOME. He Sent me samples till we had an exact match to the original. And I mean exact. I only did the back seat, unpaid and buckets and you'd never know it wants the factory vinyl. I believe moto is correct that I found the match in the coastguard line which is some extremely heavy vinyl that is coated for abrasion and stain. The grain also matched perfectly! Ask around and find an upholstery shop locally that people trust. And without an original to pattern off of it may cost a bit more to get it back to original. If you need a mariah stitch file for embroidery in the seats let me know I'll help you locate one. Good luck and keep us posted.

    Chris,

You mentioned original stitching, were you able to locate?

    Thanks,
    Jay
