Default How large is my fule tank

I have a 2000 Mariah 250 Shabah with a 7.4L engine. Does anyone know how large the fuel tank is on the boat and what the range of the boat is between fuel stops?

My 1995 240z is 80 gal, I would imagine that a 250 Shabah would be at least 80 gal. Fuel consumption totally depends on how much right hand you use.

I believe the 250/250Z have a 56 gallon tank but I would have to check the 2000 Mariah brochure to be positive. I can tell you from experience the 7.4MPI loves fuel. I definitely stick to cruising RPMs when Im going from A to B. Somewhere in the around 2500-2800 range keeps me in the low to mid 30s doing around 10 GPH. If you are going WOT at 4400 or so you will be guzzling fuel at 28.5 GPH or 4.75 gallons every 10 min...

    7.4 Fuel Consumption

Thanks so much for the helpful reply. I like the cruising info burning only 10 gph

You're right. .I checked 2000 manual, only 56 gal. I'm surprised that with a bigger boat they used a smaller tank.

Yep, the 250 tank is 56 gallons... Knew that number very well. With the 7.4L being so thirsty, you really want to make sure and keep your speed down into your sweet spot range (like motoxxx43 pointed out), keep the bow trimmed up, and plan your fuel stops if traveling any significant distance. A few years ago, I took a trip up into Canada (about 35 miles from our our marina) and nearly ran out of fuel on the way back. Coasted in on fumes to the nearest port and paid $5.50/gallon, which is where you'll really appreciate the smaller 56 gallon tank...

And, if you're doing any sort of watersports, tubing, etc., it is entirely possible to burn through a tank in one day if you're not careful. Just get it out on the water, and experiment around to find your optimum speed and settings. Start off with your trim all the way down, and once you plane, adjust the trim up until you can feel the speed increase. Once the bow starts to porpoise up and down, just trim down slightly until that goes away, and that'll be your most efficient setting for that particular RPM. On the trim gauge, this will usually be between the halfway mark and the notch between 1/2 and down.

Just make sure you always keep the fuel tank at least 1/4 full and plan your fuel stops accordingly! And, one more important thing, these boats may look fast, but they definitely aren't, they're a luxury boat made to look fast. So if ever approached by a Baja or other GFBL boat for a race, just go ahead and pass the victory flag to them, and save the fuel.

Is the 1992 Mariah 2000ZC Cuddy fast with the 260 hp Merc Alfha one drive? I haven't taken it out on it's maiden voyage yet. :-)

I topped off the 250 yesterday to completely full. I had to- $1 off per gallon! I was sitting just below a 1/4 tank. At that level she took 38 gallons, just for reference. I know at Powell I brought an extra 8 gallons in case I ran dry. But once on "E" I'm thinking there is about 10-12 maybe more gallons left. Shabah280z might have a better idea but that is just what I think. I kinda want to fill up from bone dry to see how much fuel brings it to a measurable amount on the fuel gauge.
Looking to aid efficient cruising you could consider a pair of trim tabs. Put them on mine. They do as advertised.
