7.4 running rich
Hi all. Got my 7.4 running with a rebuild kit in the weber/edelbrock carb. I set the floats to spec. Starts on first crank every time. Seems to be a little rich though, as I can smell it a little. Are the marine engines supposed to be a little on the rich side?

Hey Paul ,
Hook up a vacuum gauge to a vacuum port on the base of your Weber. Adjust the idle/air screws til you have optimum vacuum , that should solve it for ya. :wink_thumbup: |
Re: 7.4 running rich
Ok Larry. I'll have to go to a plug on my intake to get some vac. My weber has no ports on it

Re: 7.4 running rich
It should still work fine Paul
Just make sure you keep the screws out the same number of turns , or at least very close. |
Re: 7.4 running rich
Gotcha. I prolly need to check the plugs and my timing too. I think that's the only two things I haven't looked at on this thing. I better get on the ball- weather is warming up quick here

7.4 running rich
Just great day for the ride. She started her 21st year of service yesterday. My passengers yesterday could have cared less.

Re: 7.4 running rich
We've had a few low 80's days already. Humid as all get out. Mosquitos and wasps are already out, some are big enough to carry a small dog away
