Default Buzzing noise when battery connected

Whenever I have the engine shut down but the battery connected I get a constant buzzing sounds. It sounds like an alarm of some type but not really that loud. Anyway it is very frustrating to listen to when we're sitting out with the engine shut down. Any ideas what could be making the sound? I have some other electrical issues (the console gauges come and go, the fuel gauge doesn't work) so nothing would surprise me just looking to see if there is anything I can do to eliminate this nuisance noise.

I think that you would recognize the system alarms if you heard them. They tend to be quite loud and annoying. Does it sounds like a feedback thru your stereo speakers? You could pull the fuses on each system one at a time to see if the 'buzzing' noise stops thereby isolating the circuit that is causing the problem.

As for your console gauges it sounds like a bad ground. I would locate your bus bars (likely under the drivers side dash and back behind the battery) then remove the connections one at a time, clean them & then reconnect. Suggest that you disconnect the battery before you do this though.

There are a few members here who are much better at electrics than i am so hopefully they will chime in if the above doesn't work.

A ground problem definitely sounds like the issue with the gauges since they come and go. I still haven't managed to find a schematic that looks like my electrical layout. Mine has absolutely no indication of what fues is controlling what item so I'm a lot leary about pulling fuses. I also have a 20 amp fuse that is clearly blown that I have no idea what it is for.

Here's the fuse box layout. The wiring diagram is in the Original Mariah Manuals & Supplements section that you have access to. Dont expect to find one specifically for your particular Talari. Mariah used the same wiring harness in all of their smaller boats and all wiring is labeled.

Fuse Box Layout for Shabah 180

    Top row, left-to-right

    Docking Lights (unused): 15A
    Nav and Anch Lights: 5A
    Blower: 10A
    Bilge: 5A
    Courtesy Lights: 5A
    Horn, Stereo, Acc. Plugs: 10A

    Bottom Row, left-to-right

    Unknown: 10A

    Main (in-line on battery): 35A

Tilt (in-line on tilt motor): 20A

    3 x 5A, 3 x 10A, 1 x 15A, 1 x 20A, 1 x 35A
