Merc Bravo III Problem
Any insight into the possible problem would be appreciated before I tear the drive apart. The problem, my Bravo III outdrive is now starting to have problems with what I am calling a " sliipage"
By that I mean, when I start to apply the throttle the motor rpm and speed to not react accordingly. The outdrive starts to make a "grumbling noise" The motor rpm will increase with no speed to the boat. I apply more throttle, going from aprox. 1k rpm up to 2krpm and the boat does not move like it has, should. The motor rpm will quickly jump up to 2500-2700 rpm without the boat speed increasing. At low rpm 1K rpm and lass it seems to operate okay. No problem in going from F/N/R . The shift is definite. Just at a RPM above 2K I see the problem. Plus I find this problem happens when the motor/outdrive gets up to operating temp, aprox 175F. When it is cold, I pull out of the harbor it works as it should, comes on plane. All fluids are full. Any answers , tests,or solutions. Appreciate your help! |
Re: Merc Bravo III Problem
Check the hubs (or get a prop guy to check them) in your props before you start tearing your drive apart.....
