Ignition Problem

Hi everyone. I hope everyone is having a better weekend than I am. I just got back from being towed off of the lake. I'm not sure what my issue is but I figured this would be a good place to inquire.

I have a 2008 SX18. I was buzzing around on the lake all day long and decided to stop at a gathering spot where a lot of boats hook up and people just hang out. Not 20 minutes after I got there I decided to leave. When I turned the key - NOTHING! No alarm - no movement on any of
the guages - nothing. The radio the trim and the depth finder all still work but thats it. The battery is brand new but I'm going to have it tested tomorrow anyways.

The kill swith is in the run position and the trans is in nuetral. I did try to shift from gear back to nuetral a few times.

Any ideas Thanks a lot everyone. i really appreciate it!:(

Re: Ignition Problem

It sounds like a bad connection somewhere or a bad ignition switch. Do you have one or 2 batteries? Do you have a battery disconnect switch? How handy are you with checking electrical connections? Do you have a 12volt test light? I would start with the big cables coming from the battery. If they are tight and CLEAN it is a matter of following where they go and checking the cleanliness/tightness and voltage at each connection point. You could also check the voltage at the ignition switch pretty easily. Hope this gives you a starting point.
Good Luck
Dan

I had same problem on my 97 180 Shaba turned out to be
The main wireing connector where it plugs in to the engine
Loom.
Give it a wiggle that's how I found mine!

Re: Ignition Problem

I have this problem occasionaly and its always the ignition switch I just reach under the dash and move or wiggle the wires around and it starts. It seems like I have to replace it every couple years, maybe that's your problem not sure hope it works good luck!
