warning alarm only beeps twice.
 

Hi guys, I am the proud new owner of a 2000 Z202. Merc 5.0 EFI. I notice when I key on, the alarm only sounds twice. I have tried to duplicate a low oil pressure alarm by unplugging the oil sensor with engine running. Gauge will read zero but no alarm. Same with jumping the drive level sensor. Any advice would be super. Thanks Brad.:confused:

chances are it's not the oil pressure. do a quick search on here for "Alarm" and you'll find all the info you need. A lot of us have experienced an issue with one of the 3 sensors going bad!

Thanks for the reply, but I dont think my problem is like the others i found when I serched "alarm". My alarm will not work. should beep untill engine starts. Mine will only beep twice then stops, even when engine not running. I short the tan/blue wire to groung still no alarm. Im wondering if the ECM controls the alarm signal.

Brad,

On our 2001 252 Shabah w/ the Volvo 5.7, it only beeps twice and cycles the fuel pump when you turn the key to run. After 2 beeps, you can hear the fuel pump running and then of course you can turn to ignition and release when the boat starts. Again, just two beeps. Perhaps it's normal on the newer boats? You may not have a problem after all.

Thanks Ryan. that makes me feel better. Iwill keep a close eye on the gauges untill I know the system is working properly.
