Vibration in neutral

Hello all, been a while since I've visited the site. Time to start thinking about getting my 95 Barchetta ready for summer. Last year I noticed when starting the engine up, I had a really bad vibration....the higher the RPM's the worse it would get. Not that noticable at idle, and did not notice any vibration once the outdrive was in forward or reverse. Any thoughts on what I should be looking for? gimble bearing? u-joints on the coupler? I restore classic cars and build street rods, so pretty mechanical, however new to boating, and still learning! My barchetta has the mercruiser 4.3LX Alpha set up. Its also very hard to start when cold, fires right up warm. Any suggestions on what I need to look at on that would be greatly appreciated too!

My first though would be u-joints and the gimbal bearing. How long has it been since the drive was removed, and they were inspected? While the drive is off, it would be a good idea to check the engine alignment as well.
