4.3LX bogs past 3/4 throttle
 

I have a 98 Shabah 180 with a 4.3LX. I replaced my plugs, cap, rotor, carb, fuel/water separator filter, removed old gas and filled up with new fuel. The boat starts fine and runs fine until I get past 3/4 throttle. The engine bogs whether i put it full throttle from idle or after cruising for a while. Any ideas? Ive been looking all over the internet and found nothing. My carb is an Edelbrock 1409.

Read of a similar problem somewhere on a boating forum.
Turned out the fuel pick up tube screen inside the fuel tank had become partly clogged up, allowed gas through but not enough when the throttle was opened up.
The owner was upset that the screen kept the gunk at the inlet end, nothing showed up in the fuel filter, their trouble shooting took longer because of this.

I had the same problem with my 4.3. Replaced the same things you did plus new spark plug wires and it runs perfectly now. Try new wires.

Being the LX, I'd also question the second set of barrels on the carb. I believe that's about the area where they open up.

I have no mechanical skills when it comes to carbs, so I'll let someone else chime in.
