mariah sx19 mercruiser alpha trim up trim gauge bad
 

down trim working but up not working?
push button for up get click but no pump motor action
I shorted the high current (big) terminals on the top (up) solenoid
Trim goes up
replaced trim up solenoid ($14 ebay)
trim working

turn key to start click but no start?
replace same type solenoid as trim but on top of motor
test/stuck in middle of nowhere? take off plastic cover short big screws with screwdriver to start motor with key turned on


trim gauge not working?
took cover off of starboard trim sender
pulled ceramic disc (careful) out twist and pull gently
looked clean grease ok
did not clean just pulled up the wiper contacts on outdrive a bit
for more pressure against resistance section (in grease)
left grease as is
push in
make sure trim gauge reads smoothly
make sure middle trim is middle of gauge
reinstall cover
test run boat I like prop blowout to show in black on gauge ( just above center)

Thanks for the information on the trim. I don't know if it's the trim solenoid or the trim sendor. I have a 1995 Bravo I with 7.4L

Where is the trim solenoid located? Do you have a picture?
