1995 4.3 Starter/solenoid wire question.
I have a 1995 Mariah Talari with a 4.3 liter LX. On the Solenoid I have a purple/yellow wire that is not connected to anything. I have checked the repair manual and it shows it going to the solenoid and to the fuel pump. But by pictures, you can't tell were on solenoid it is hooked to.
I have 3 large red ones (battery, trim motor, safety shutoff to distributor) and 1 orange (alternator) all hooked together. 1 small yellow/red wire that is supposed to go to the slave solenoid by itself. 1 large black wire that goes to the starter. I only have the 3 bolts on the solenoid.I bought the boat used, so have no idea if this start/solenoid has been replaced with the wrong one or if the wire was for sure ever hooked up to anything. I do have a electic fuel pump. Does anybody also have this wire and could tell me were it is hooked up too. Maybe on solenoid with the yellow/red or maybe on a seperate bolt that I don't have. |
Re: 1995 4.3 Starter/solenoid wire question.
When I enlarge the picture of the starter solenoid, it looks like the purple/yellow wire and the yellow/red wire are hooked together on the left terminal on the solenoid when looking at the terminals.

I was looking at the printed wiring diagram available in the service info. However, I just looked at the wiring on my 1994 4.3LX and found that:
the purple/yellow wire is on the lower left terminal the two red + the one orange wires are on the large terminal the yellow/red wire is on the upper right terminal. A total of 3 posts plus the jumper lead to the starter itself. Here are the best pictures I could get of the starter solenoid. I hope this helps. |
