Default horsepower question

Can anyone tell me what the HP is for my engine. I have been told different things. The engine is a 94' Mercruiser 4.3 liter Vortec with a 4 barrel carb.
Thanks

According to the brochure the 4.3 4bbl develops 180hp.

I can understand why you've received different numbers! Back in '89, the 4.3 (2bbl) created 180 hp and the 4.3 LX (4 bbl.) created 205. Some time in the mid 90's, MerCruiser dropped the ratings, and as Mikey stated, the brochure says max hp on certain models is 180 with performance ratings showing the 4.3 LX. I didn't think it was that low, but maybe it was. There could also have been a misprint, but I doubt it.

I know from '97 on they were rated at 180 and 205 again.

Thanks for the info. guys. It doesn't really matter, just curious. Most everyone agrees its over 200hp but after that its a guess.

I think Indy is right. I know i was told my 4.3LX with the 4bbl carb was 205hp but i've never found anything on the web that gives me a definitive answer.
