Default Propped up again!

I’m propped up again with 28’s. With the 26’s, I still hit the rev limiter just short of 5000, and it tops out around 57-58. But with unused torque of that 502 sitting there….I just had to exercise it!

With the 28’s, I think that I finally got the to the sweet spot on this thing. It STILL will hit the rev limiter. Top speed is showing around 62-63 on the speedo, and that FAST ENOUGH in a 23' bowrider! What I like it it cruises effortlessly at about 3500rpm around 40 mph. THATS what I was looking for! Not much change in seat of the pants holeshot going from the cupped 26's to the 28's..

Crusing speed sounds about right, and as for WOT, it's pretty friggin' scary going that fast, isn't it?

yeah...over 60 is pretty nerve wracking for me! I heard a story about a big ol Fountain or Baja losing a trim tab around 70mph or so and capsized it. I like the cruising. And the acceleration is nice!

Going out to exercise mine later today!

Yep, had that happen here on the river a few weeks ago. Guy blew out a tab and threw all 4 passengers into the river and the boat ran in circles until it capsized itself.

Personally I've been on a Baja at 76mph and it's so amazingly scary, you actually start to encounter wind lift under the bow, and I had the death grip on the dash the whole time. That was my last time on his boat!

I used to be the wheel man on a friends 24' Douglas Skater. (He ran the throttles...) We could do a 105 knots if the conditions were right... Wind lift under the boat was exactly what you were looking for! No tabs to worry about, but you really need the open water. Things come up mighty quick at that speed.

His props were stainless Kiekhaefers which you could use as cutting implements, and one of his motors cost about what I paid for my whole boat.

LOL. Yeah, the Skater didn't come with any cupholders! If you were a passenger in the back seat, you spent most of your time with a death grip on the grab rails.

You had to hold your sunglasses to look left and right otherwise they were gone...

I was holding the driver's... And that's another reason why I won't ride with him again, he had a few too many of those. Thankfully he sold his boat!
