MSD Distributor to Shift cutout switch
I need some help, I replaced my engine and moved from the Thunderbolt V ignition system to a MSD Marine distributor. The wiring out of the MSD is not the same as the Thunderbolt V and does not connect the same. Does anyone have an idea how to reconnect the shift cutout switch using the wiring from the MSD Distributor? Do I route the black wire through the cutout switch gray wire first and then onto the negative side of the coil? I need to get it hooked back up. Thanks for any help!
Engine is a Chevy 5.8L Carbureted Alpha 1. I removed the stock Mercruiser 350 mag with a Thunderbolt V ignition system. |
Re: MSD Distributor to Shift cutout switch
Ok an update, I believe I have located the solution. The shift cutout switch has the white/grn and a black wire coming out of it(old style lever switch) The white/grn will now go to the negative side of the coil and the black wire it route to a ground. Once I get it connected, I will update the post if it works correctly.

Re: MSD Distributor to Shift cutout switch
Ok update, yes this is the correct way to wire the shift cutout switch. Wht/Grn goes to negative side of coil and black goes to ground. Tested this last weekend and everything is working correctly.
