Trim gauge "pegging out"
 

Hi all. On the lake this weekend and my trim gauge would peg out all the way to the top and off the scale. I could trim the motor up or down a little and the reading would go back to normal, move the motor a little again and the gauge would max out to the up position again. I also noticed a weird smell coming from up under the dash, too. It didn't smell like wires burning, but something getting hot. I'm guessing that maybe the gauge was getting hot? As far as the readings maxing out, I would think that the trim position sensor on the out drive is acting up. I replaced them two years ago. Any ideas or similar experiences?
