Default 1997 7.4 Carb Question....

Hello All,

Quick question... Does anyone what Carb I have on my 97 Z222 w/7.4 Merc? The boat is storage now so I cannot look further into it. Ive been told Rochester and Weber...

    Don't have experience with it but I would hope it's fuel injected. That probably doesn't help but my 1997 5.7 is injected. I know there were carbed stuff lingering but idk. Sorry I can't help.

    Have a look >>>HERE<<< and use the serial number to find exactly what you may have. Or if the Mercruiser stickers are on top the motor and it says "L" or "LX" that can give you an idea. L is carbed LX is TBI- throttle body injection.

    7.4L BRAVO (GEN. VI) GM 454 V-8 1996-1997 - 0F800700 THRU 0K999999 is a Weber

    7.4LX BRAVO (TBI)(GEN. VI) GM 454 V-8 1996-1997 has TBI.

    I think you might find it easier to upgrade the carbed motor over a TBI or MPI. Lots of info out there.
