Gasoline smell, engine compartment!
Hi,
I don know if this is a common problem for boats with carburetors, but im not feeling comfortable with the smell og gasoline from the engine compartment. and i want to find the reason. I have checked all fuel lines and connections, and no leaks where found. my personal conclusion is that the carburetor is the source. Does any of you have some experiences, or advice what could be the reason. My boat is a 2006 Mariah SX18 with 3.0L engine. Thanks in advance |
Re: Gasoline smell, engine compartment!
No, its not a 'common' issue with carbureted boat motors and it's something that you need to find and fix asap before your boat (and anyone in it) goes 'boom'.

Thanks Mikey,
I think i will dismantle the carburetor and buy a repair kit, to see if that solves the problem, Best regards |

Re: Gasoline smell, engine compartment!
Can be very serious issue. A boat exploded this spring on lake by me. Was a dock install boat had fuel leak. Blew the deck off boat and operator up in air he land back in boat on fire and luckly was able to jump in to lake also while being on fire. Burned 75% of his body. His family watch from shore as it happen.
