Default CE certificate

hi there
desperately need copy of a CE conformation/certificate of a Mariah Shabah . I am the new proud owner of a 1997 Shabah and in order to register the boat i need a CE certificate or document ...
I do have the metal plate CE certificate but its just not enough for the Greek port authorities

I dont know what to tell you Apollo. Each govt has their own rules / regulations for certificates of compliance. Canadian & US rules are fairly straightforward. When importing an original Mariah into Canada, given that the original Mariah company no longer exists, Transport Canada requires you to fill out one of their forms (which simply provides the info shown on the metal plate) and attach 4 photos of the boat from different angles. Transport Canada accepts the detail shown on the plate as it was provided in the USA and voila, the boat is now compliant in Canada.

Have you explained to the local authorities that the original manufacturer no longer exists? If you purchased the boat in the USA, the USCG may be able to provide a copy of the compliance certificate but one of our American members would be in a better position to answer this.

in an attempt to be humorous (<-- American spelling!), have you considered offering them a half dozen sheep as a bribe?

my only bribe will be an anker in their neck...
    Its so crazy...
I bought the boat in Corfu and it was originaly imported in UK. The boat as a European import has a CE Plate .Now they say to me the plate is not good enough, i need a paper Ce certificate...
Its such a beautiful boat and i will hate to have to look at the laying out of the water for the summer.
If any of our Europeans friends has bought his Mariah new, then he should have a copy of the CE. The CE is the same for all of the Mariahs (of same model)
My guess is that il probably have more luck in this forum than anywhere else in the world. Keep you fingers crossed for me

What about going back to the seller in Corfu and asking if they have a compliance certificate?

    Not possible.
the previous owner says he cant find it and i have no reason to doubt that . Besides you didnt need (and still i think you dont) need a CE to register a boat in United Kingdom .

Apollo, try sending a PM to graziad21 or pablo1981, both have their Map Pins in Greece. otherwise, use our map to locate other European members for possible assistance.

    Good luck,
    WetWilly

In Belgium (as I remember) you only needed to prove your engines and hull CE certification if boat was registered for the first time after june 16th 1998. As Belgium is part of the EU community, I would check if the date of 1998 also is applicable in your EU country. If applicable, this could help you as yours is a 1997 boat.

    Hope this helps,

    Johan

you are absolutely correct. However ....the Greek low states that you dont need a CE certificate if the boat was INITIALLY registered in Greece and not if it was first registered in another European country...go figure
The good think is that the Mariah company had a CE compliance certificate for ALL of their models. The same certificate applies for all of the shabah boats been produced
(the CE homologation refers to all the boats of the same model and not to each boat seperetly )

WetWilly: thanks for the advice , havent thought of it. Ill give it a try.

I hope someone can help out, If you've got one, help apollo first and then please PM or email me, so maybe we could put a copy of this certificate on the site for anyone who needs one!! I'm sure it'd be invaluable to Mariah owners in foreign waters!

I am confused as to the certificate you guys are talking about. I bought my first Mariah in 1998 brand new from the dealer and all I got was a bill of sale to title the boat with. My 275st did not have anything like that in its papers either. Is it some kind of paperwork that they sent with boats they exported new?
