Looking at the "2" bidders it makes me think there's a little 'shady' bidding going on.... :shakehead:

Mark 05-04-2008 11:51 PM

One of the bids is mine but they can have it to much for me.

mikeyt 05-05-2008 02:29 AM

I suspected one of the two were legit......

vicsem 05-05-2008 04:58 AM

I need one too...for left side. Mine is missing...actually was missing when i got my Diablo. Will keep an eye open for this one.

vicsem 05-05-2008 05:28 AM

Well...you should see the last auction on eBay ...all three of those decals went way too much...but what can you do? They are not available anymore...at least they are not for me. I am getting my boat ready for this season. Did a lot of work to her. So far what is let is this darn "sticker" and new bezel around the tachometer. I already sent my to Faria for repairs or replacement and I'm keeping my fingers crossed...i hope they have one i need. Otherwise i will end up with replacing whole instrument set, which is not my ideal choice.

mikeyt 05-05-2008 06:39 PM

I'm pretty sure you can still get the 'new' Mariah vinyl decals directly from Sea Fox or any Mariah dealer. The only difference that i know of is that they are trimmed with silver around the outside edge rather than gold like the originals. I think WetWilly took that approach when replacing his and just bought 2 of the new style ones.

Do you know any links to website where i can see them or at list price'm out?

I'll send a PM to WetWilly and get him to respond directly to you. He will likely be able to answer all your questions on the new decals.

vicsem 05-06-2008 07:20 PM

$71.00 already and four days to go....someone really desperate to get this thing. I am already out and going to buy silver ones

ShabahZ280 05-06-2008 07:34 PM

i suspect some serious foul play on these... i can remember a time not too long ago a set of them went for $30.

vicsem 05-06-2008 07:40 PM

Yea...i remember that time...i actualy was trying to win that auction...missed by several seconds:p...But this one way outraged...I know it's hard to find those...but for this much?:mad:

lawmanbsi 05-08-2008 08:27 PM

I was looking for the shield on the side. Mine developed a crack this past winter. I think I will just try to seal it so it doesn't progress any further. I think I will spend my money on more usable items like the covers, seats and, mnor hull cracks.

I wonder if I can repair my decal. The dock kind of peeled it partialy off but it is still there and intact. My speedo stopped working on me last year out of the blue. I have the pick up wheel style not the pedo tube. Is there any power that goes to it or does it get a pulse from that spinning wheel? Anyone? By the way , Thanks Wet willy for the info on the decals. I am amazed on that 100.00 winning bid on Ebay.

Hi dlpmaint,

Yes, your new speedo gauge should require power if it uses the paddle wheel. It works similar to a Tach, the spinning paddle wheel creates pulses and the gauge converts them to MPH where the pickup tube model is just a glorified air gauge, no power needed! Your installation manual for your gauge should have all the requirements.

Your welcome on the new decal info!

As for a $100 for an original shield... value can be very difficult to see for many people. It comes down to "what's it worth to you?" So if someone spend $20, $30 or even or $100 on something like these decals, well, obviously it was worth it so more power to them! As for me, my value system is a little different so I'll wait until I feel one has come into my range. Just remember, there are only so many of these floating around so when they run out, they're gone for good.

Do you know where I can get a wiring diagrahm on the original speedometer? I would like to trouble shoot this one before I go out and buy a new one. Do you
Know how to test this style with the pulse wheel?

Hi Dave,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but your gauge should be made by Faria, and if it is, they do repairs for a nominal cost. As for testing the original gauge, the original speedometer uses an air tube connected to an external water pickup either on the back of your boat or from a small hole located on the leading edge of your out drive. It uses air pressure rather than electricity to function. Take a look at this thread, click here, there is a link to Faria and pictures on the out drive water pickup so it may have what you need.

We do have a wiring diagram for the 96 Mariahs, we also have a growing library of manuals, brochures and all sorts of information relevant to Mariah, the stern drives and equipment, but you need to become contributing member to access this information. Trust me, it is more than worth it, so click here to see what each level has to offer. Once you've donated, contact me and we'll get you to the diagrams ASAP!

Hi Wet Willy
I'm not sure if you got my reply earlier today. I sent it to you from work and I wasn't sure if it went out. Any way I was talking to another member and they directed me to my problem. I found my tube was disconnected at the lower out drive. The little plastic tube coupling unhooked and came off. I tested the speedometer after with some air and it worked . I also confirmed the paddle wheel is for a resetable trip meter on on the dash. I put my key in the on position and spun the wheel and sure enough the meter started counting. Thanks for your reply and help I really do appriciate it. I also replied to Chris about making a donation but I have not heard back from him yet. I have an owners manual and an operation & maintenance manual on the 4.3LX Gen+ and 4.3LXH Gen+ Alpha one. I do want to make a donation one way or another.
Thanks again!
Dave

Hi Dave,

Glad to here your speedo is working! This is what this club is all about, helping each other so we can spend more time enjoying our Mariahs!!!

As for Chris, he is very prompt so I'm sure he probably tied up right now as this is a busy time for us all, don't worry, he'll get back to you soon.

Take care,
WetWilly

Wow I Feel Special!

We used to put them on our car and truck windows at the plant. These have been in a drawer in the basement for about 13 years now. I might have some more down there.Seems like I had a few of the large "Mariah"for the sides, the thick ones, not the vinyl tape ones.
I don't know what a fair price would be! Got any idea? I guess that is 7 of the big ones spoken for now! I don't want to be greedy but I sure could use the money right now! I'm in Marion Il. What do you think is a fair price?

Jeff

WetWilly 05-23-2008 06:00 PM

Geez Mikey, you're like a shark in a sea of us minnows........ and just when I though it was safe to go out shopping! :shakehead:

Oooohhh Jeff!
That's really tough question you're asking. Just be fair to us...that's all. Be fair to us and we will be fair to you too...:yes_grin::yes_grin:
Hey...i have a suggestion here for you...Sell us whatever we need at decent price and rest what you might end up to have you can sell on eBay. Here you will make a lot of friends and on eBay you can make some profit. What do you think?

$100 each for the large ones, $75 each for the large round ones & $50 ea for the little round ones with my cut at 75% :wink_thumbup:

okay...i'll put my real 2 cents worth in.....actually, i wuz thinking around $25 for the shields, $20 & $15 for the round ones might be a fair price here for everyone concerned given what else we've seen.

mikeyt 05-23-2008 06:23 PM

I'm even more curious as to what else you might have stashed down in your basement? :rolling_laugh:

Thanks for the heads up MikeyT!

Earthbound, If you would like $25-$30 each for 2 large shields put me down for two of them!

Shipping out of the states to Canada... $10-15?

Earthbound Misfit 05-23-2008 06:42 PM

I guess I need to think on this a little!
Shipping would depend on how you would want them shipped, priority or whatever.

so far there is 7 of the big ones wanted. That would leave me three to try on ebay.

the round ones are about 3in and 1 1/2in in diameter.

There is no tellin' whats in the basement, maybe nothing else, but I know I had some side letering at one time!

Jeff

Earthbound Misfit 05-23-2008 06:44 PM

make that 9 !

vicsem 05-23-2008 06:54 PM

And i need one....don't forget about me....i am in Seattle area...:D

180diablo 05-23-2008 06:56 PM

Hey I managed to squeek my name in there... lol. I have a set of silver Mariah large decals that I haven't installed just yet. I picked them up from a former Mariah dealer up here. If I could get an original set, that would be awesome.

Shipping would be via USPS. Any other carrier would rip out my nuts through my wallet.. :eek_animated:. USPS Express I think includes tracking number.

There is no rush to get these out to me. Once the dust settles on this thread, we can go from there.
