1992 mx19
 

Hello all just joined the forum after purchasing a 1992 mx19 with the 4.3 and Alpha I. Really like the site a lot of info in here. I do have a question about the Coast Guard tag, every boat I have owned had one and I have looked all over this one and can not find it. Is it a law that it has to be on the boat? If so what do I need to do to get one? Any info would be much appreciated.

The Capacity plate is required under the Federal Boat Saftey Act of 1971. Boats less than 20' are required to have the capacity plate. NMMA certified manufacturers must have an NMMA certified capacity plate for boats under 26'. Over 26' the NMMA requires a Yacht Certification plate, which does not include any capacity information. And....if i understand it correctly, your regs dont state that the manufacturer has to install the plate so you could simply have one made up with all of the pertinent information normally found on the capacity plate and install a replacement yourself.

All that said, i believe each individual state can set their own regulations but most follow the above rules. I could be corrected on this though.

Thanks Mikey for the info I guess now I just need to find the info from another boat. If there is anyone on here that has a 1992 MX19 that could send me a pic of their tag would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all.
