Default Potential Mariah owner

Looking at a 20 foot Mariah and trying to gather information on quality of boats before I buy. Any input is greatly appreciated.

This is one of the best made boats you could by if it is before 2000.

You do realize you are asking a bunch of Mariah enthusiasts whether their boats are any good right?

As Mariah1 noted, anything prior to 2001 is the original Mariah boats and anything after 2003 is the Sea-Fox version of a Mariah boat. The originals were very solidly built boats, the Sea-Fox version was built to a price point in hopes of being a more 'affordable' boat. The original Mariah Boat Co. closed its doors in 2001 and Sea-Fox is now in the process of divesting itself of their Mariah line.

If you want a little more info on what to look for when buying a used Mariah click here.

Thanks to you both, I did realize who I was asking but figured it is better than asking those with no experience. The boat is a 1998 and will pick it up on Monday. Sure I will have more questions as I get into boating with the Mariah.

Did sea fox buy and use the hull molds? What makes them cheaper built?

I understood that Sea-Fox bought hulls under 25' and used them for their early boats. Most of the changes though came in the form of what was fitted to the hulls as they had to find ways to get the cost of building the boat down to where they were more affordable to most boaters. The original Mariah's were designed with 'Cadillac' in mind where Sea-Fox was thinking 'Chevy'.
