Default Newbie with a z202

Well here goes the intro - just got a new to me z202, 2000. 5.0L. The previous owner was pretty meticulous with this boat but until I get her completely oxidation free, shiney, replaced all the little cracked pieces and get my new sound system done, I'll hold off on the rest of the pics (not that everyone here doesn't already know what one looks like anyways!)

A couple of questions, as best as I have been to search the forums I'm still learning, but I have a poker run coming up Friday so I'm a little crunched on time -

I have a fairly chunky sized Garmin GPSMAP 431 chartplotter, and I for the life of me cannot find a good place to mount it on the dash. Anyone been creative enough to come up with a mounting solution for a chartplotter on a z202?

I'm struggling to find an anchor rated for a 20+ foot boat yet fits in the bow anchor compartment, anyone know of one that fits? the gel coated West Marine anchor I bought fits in from side to side but is too long, and the other generic ones are too wide that supposedly work for a 20'.

Finally, my top speed so far (not glass water, just a bit of chop) has only been 47mph (GPS, full tank of gas), and I was getting the impression it should be 51. What should I expect top end to be? I haven't loaded up anything except life vests and floats., and it was 2 people aboard sitting in captains chairs.

Looking forward to learning a lot here and contributing when I can.

Welcome aboard! I cant answer the chartplotter question but there are a few here that might be able to. As for your anchor issue, i've not run into that yet. Maybe someone here with a 202 can suggest what they use.

Speed is relative. Speedos and brochures/advertizing are always optimistic. What prop do you have on the boat now? What condition is it in? You might want to have a look thru the FAQ's and STICKYS at the top of the Prop Talk Forum.

Thanks Mikey for your quick reply!

I have the stock I believe, - It's a 19P Mercury Vengeance, 3 blade. Does not appear to have any chips or dings just the typical scuff from 14 yrs use.

I did just find that the round plate below the cavitation plate was not bolted on tight, it was hanging about 1/2" below the cavitation plate. I'm anxious to get it on water again to see if this was causing drag, I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be fastened tight and flush to the cavitation plate correct?

Yes, that is actually an anode plate and it should be snug & flush. The Vengeance is an older design, general purpose prop that's quite durable so it should do the job.
