'96 180 Shabah owners on Chessy Bay
We just bought a "96 180 Shabah in Annapolis MD. Our previous runabout was an '83 Sea Ray, 18'6" with a 120HP Mercruiser I/O. Love the new boat but we are working through some electrical issues. Replaced the bilge pump and blower motor and plan to install a main cut off switch right at the battery. Horn nor interior lights are working and only some of the gauges. Would appreciate link to wiring diagram and any advice specific to this model boat. Saw a thread on solenoid switch so I'll check to see if mine is stand alone or integral to starter motor. I am impressed with the wiring harness construction and have begun to test fuses and clean contacts to see if that will clear up some of these issues. Really love the 205 HP and am working to figure the trim out to better handle the Chesapeake chop.....
Thanks, Tinman |
Re: '96 180 Shabah owners on Chessy Bay
Welcome. Most electrical problems on boats are caused by poor grounds usually due to corrosion. I would suggest simply pulling and cleaning wire connections, particularly at the fuse block located up underneath the console and the one back behind the battery on the transom. Have a look thru the 'STICKYS' located at the top of the General Maintenance forum.
As for the trim issues, the Shabah 180 really benefits from the addition of a pair of Smart Tabs. Do a site search (top right corner of screen) for them and you will find lots of threads discussing their benefits or you can go right to the manufactures site here. We do maintain manuals / brochures / electrical info for Contributing Members. If you would like to read up on the benefits, have a look at the STICKY at the top of the Introduction Forum. |
