Volvo SX trim issues

Hi guys, I have a Volvo sx sterndrive. Put a battery in and went to lower the trim. Worked like normal for 8 sec and then stopped. You could tell it was seized and the 2 wires get hot if you engage the trim. I took the trim motor apart, cleaned, ran it straight off a battery in my hand and it spun fine..hooked it up under load and no good, it makes a slow whine and gets hot. Bad motor. Now I figure hell I can drain lines and replace fluid while new motor is shipping. Disconnected all the lines to rams, pulled reservoir out, fluid has water in it! The trim worked great last season and fine during winterization. If the ram seals were bad wouldn't the trim slowly lower and fluid leak out? I'm confused. I plan on replacing small orings. Any ideas? Advice? I have the diaphragm off the reservoir and lines in boat disconnected. How do I remove all the water and test the rams? Hope to get some answers..Thanks much
Note: Now that I think of it I'm almost certain when I purchased this boat season before last the fluid was pinkish. Will the trim system operate well with water in the system?

First off, welcome aboard to a fellow southern Ontario resident. Second, i'm gonna leave any comments on the Volvo outdrives & trim systems to those members who have 'em. :(
