Just bought a 1991 2150zc
Just picked up a 1991 2150zc. Has the standard 5.7 merc and only has 180 hours. Winterized it and am chomping at the bit for spring. Any one know if these came with an on oard battery charging system? Can't find one on it an am making my offseason shopping list
Thanks Nik |
Re: Just bought a 1991 2150zc
Welcome to MOC Nik! :)
Your 2150ZC didn't come with onboard charging capabilities unless it was added on at dealer or by previous owner. If it is in your budget , I'd run a dual battery setup with isolator and dual charging/maintain system.:wink_thumbup: Once again , Welcome! |

Welcome aboard! and btw....what Larry said! :)

Re: Just bought a 1991 2150zc
It is already set for dual battery, has an isolator, but no evidence of a charger/maintainer. I hope to add the charger and tie it into the shore power. Is this the way to go?

Re: Just bought a 1991 2150zc
To clarify from my previous post. It has two batteries and a switch, no isolator or charger

Re: Just bought a 1991 2150zc
Yes , hooking to shore power is the way to go Nik. One plug and forget it.:wink_thumbup:
You can run without the isolator , you just have to manually switch the batteries for charging. Unless you run on both all the time (not recommended).:shakehead: I got CRS...........so I got a isolator installed on my Diablo:rolling_laugh: |
Re: Just bought a 1991 2150zc
Getting ready to place my order today, might add an inverter too. I am assuming the outlet in my cuddy only runs on shore power?

Correct!

Any suggestions on batteries, both need replacing. So far am ordering isolator, charger, inverter.

Re: Just bought a 1991 2150zc
You'll hear everything from buy the best to buy the cheapest , and everything in between.
I run 2 Optima Bluetops now and have had no issues with them for 4 yrs now. Took them out of my old boat 2yrs ago when I sold it. Next time will be Odyssey batteries , but they are spendy. Others will chime in with their ideas on batteries for sure. If you do a search on batteries you'll see all the different options members use.:wink_thumbup: |
