Model Query SX 24

1 Attachment(s)
Hi Everyone,
I am a Yacht Broker based in Sovereign Harbour, East Sussex, England and I have a client who has what he thinks to be a Mariah SX24 which is CE Plated and wants to sell.

He has no specification details on the boat and there are no model identifying decals. Unfortunately the Hull Identification Number is not visible as the boat is on the water and it is beneath the swim platform.

From the research that I have done I can not find no information on an SX 24, does anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks

Re: Model Query SX 24

I believe it may be an SX-22. There's a few tell-tale signs.

-Sea Fox Mariah never made a SX-24. (The next closest size is the SX25)
-The engine vents are located on the transom vs. the sides. (as the SX25 model has)
-The upper half of the hull above the rubrail has a "swoosh" molded into it, vs the SX25 which doesn't.
-The "indy style" decal package makes me believe it's an early model, most likely around 2003-2005.

From the photo you attached, it looks as if the original model badge is still located on the port side, just in front of the midship cleat. Other than that, you will just need the Hull ID number to confirm what year it is. Also, once you get that, you could call Sea Fox Mariah and they could tell you what the correct model number is.

Hope this helps!

Hi Alan

That SX22 came with either a 4.3, 2 versions of the 5.0, a 5.7 or a 350MAG, If it is an SX22 it will be 22' 2" oal, have a 36.6 Imp gal/167 litre fuel tank, max capacity of 12 persons or 2100 lbs. Knowing that hull id# will help. Your client has no idea what boat he has?

Re: Model Query SX 24

That could very well be the original engine, as the options offered in 2003 were:

-4.3L Carb 190 HP(base model)
-5.0L Carb 220 HP
-4.3L MPI 220 HP
-5.0L MPI 260 HP
-5.7L Carb 250 HP
-350 Mag 300 HP

After 2003, they stopped equipping them with the Carb'd 4.3L, and the base engine became the Carb'd 5.0L.

The last two digits of the ID number tell us it is a 2006.

Re: Model Query SX 24

In the US, there's a US Coast Guard capacity plate located near the helm. This should have the boat model number, manufacturer, and maximum passenger capacity. This should still be on the boat, even if it's overseas and been CE plated.

OR

Call Sea Fox Mariah at 1-843-761-6090. Give them the Hull ID number and they should be able to tell you exactly what you need.

We've an identical looking boat, and we believe ours is an SX22 with swim platform, making it SX24.
