Trailer Size

I just bought a 2001 Z212 with a 5.0L engine. Specs say that the weight is about 3600lbs. Can I get away with a single axle trailer rated at 3900 lbs or do I need to take consideration of gas weight etc....?

I don't know if I would cut it that close if it was me. Also, I could be wrong, but I always thought that trailer axles were either rated at 2,500 or 3,500 lbs each. Or maybe those are just for torsion axles and springs are different. Heck, I don't know! :) Anyways, I would want some extra cushion in there for water, gear, fuel, beer, and those big holes that come out of no where on the road!

Running that close to your limit without the redundancy of a second axle can’t be a good thing!
Pop a tyre and you’re in a whole world of pain.

According to the 2001 brochure she weighs in at 3425 lbs. But that's empty. As the guys say , fill her with fuel , toys , coolers , etc. and your way over. Splurge for a tandem axle for sure.
