Dimensions for engine cover/sun platform
Greetings!
I'm the proud new owner of a 1998 Shabah - Previous owner had neglected and the seats need quite a bit of repair. I'm buying new captains chairs and reupholstering bow rider seats, I need to completely rebuild back bench seat and have reupholstered as well. The rot on bench seat was minimal so I was able to salvage to use old one as template, however, the engine cover/sun platform is COMPLETELY rotted so I was wondering if anyone out there could provide me with the dimsensions (just of the wood base) so I could rebuild. Thank you in advance for any information you could provide me. A friend of mine had one years ago and I loved the style and weight of boat. Fast and could handle chop/rough water with ease! Looking forward to getting mine in the water! :) |

So it won't sag down like a big piece of cardboard, but still be able to cut the pattern out of it easily, buy one of the 4 X 8 foot pieces of foam-board from Home Depot or Lowes to use. Place it over the opening. You can line up the straight front edge of the foam-board with the edge of your bench seat to get your alignment there. Tape it in place so it doesn't move around, and from underneath trace out the opening. Then deduct from that traced edge the 1 to 1.5 inches needed for the foam thickness plus upholstery fabric you will be using. Keep in mind that you will want a little space left around it so it will open and close easily. Take pictures, lots of them, it would make a great DIY (do-it-yourself) article for others wanting/needing to do the same thing. :wink_thumbup: Besides that, we LUV pictures here. |
