Hi all!
Well here goes! First time boat owner in Milwaukee. Pretty rough. Got er' with a blown 5.7 Merc. Built a 383 stroker and can't wait to try it out. Have to replace the steering cable before the motor goes in.
I'm sure I have many discoveries awaiting as the boat owners world has warned me.
Hats off to Harborside Marine. Very friendly and helpful to the newbie.
Well, gotta go. I will be searching the forums for future needs I'm sure!

Well, the motor is in and we're getting close. Workin' on the out drive. Just wondering if I should consider a different gear ratio than the 1.5 before I get too far. Stock was 260 hp, now I'm at the 400 mark (can't wait) so should the ratio be something to look at?
And yes, I do realize I'm overpowering the alpha 1, gen 2 but gotta run it for now.

Welcome aboard, Cheddar. We are first time boat owners ourselves with a regular 94 205 Davanti. If our experience is any indication, I am sure you will love that boat. Finding a good mechanic and learning to do little things by yourself goes a long way in enhancing the boat owning experience.

Hi cheddar I ran a 400 horse sbc in my previous boat yeah I heard the you gonna blow the leg bit alot I did crap out the top gears thats when I switched ratios so if you take it easy on her for now they will be ok I did mine in on a hard weekend trying to find the right prop lol. I thought I had done so and then poof no go changed gears and ran a 21' prop after that seemed about best a 19' gave killer hole shot but she was wot and only doing 45mph@ 5000rpm
