We have recently bought our 1st boat, after much looking around we settled on a 2006 Mariah sx18 with a 3.0 mercruiser engine.
We've had it out on the water a couple of times,and so far everything is good.
We live in Brisbane Queensland Australia,so we are able to take our boat on the Brisbane river,Moreton Bay,Somerset Dam ,the waters around the Gold Coast and the rivers and waters around the Sunshine Coast,all no more than an hour and a half from home.
We still have a lot to learn,and will happily accept any advice about how to get the best from our Mariah.

I have a similar one and am also very pleased with it. Good engine, very low consumption. Downside is the holeshot is not that great, for example skying will be not that easy with the 3L or if filled up with 6 to 8 people it takes very long to get into plane.

I have the identical boat except ours is a 2007 model. It is stock down to the original propeller. The only real modification to the boat was adding Nautica SmartTabs which made a huge difference in the performance - I highly recommend that inexpensive upgrade. Our boat hits 43mph at 4800 RPM WOT. 3000 - 3300 seems to be a real sweet spot for gas consumption on long runs. The 3L can really go through the 22g tank at high RPM's. Have fun with your new boat.
